About us
A Legacy of Literary Dedication
Nepali Sahitya Parishad, Assam (NSPA), one of the premier literary organizations of the Nepali-speaking Gorkha community of Assam was founded on January 4, 1974. Another important literary body known as Assam Nepali Sahitya Sabha (ANSS), came into existence on August 19, 1993. For many years, both organizations functioned independently, contributing significantly to the development and promotion of Nepali language, literature, and culture in Assam.

Sustaining a Living Literary Heritage
The Assam Nepali Sahitya Sabha is dedicated to the sustained promotion, enrichment, and preservation of the Nepali language, literature, and cultural heritage of the Gorkhas of Assam.
It seeks to serve as a representative and unifying platform for writers, poets, scholars, and cultural practitioners — facilitating dialogue, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas across generations and regions.
Through seminars, conferences, workshops, publications, and collaborations with academic and governmental institutions, the Sabha endeavors to integrate Nepali literature of Assam’s Gorkhas into the broader literary and cultural mainstream of India, thereby upholding linguistic dignity, cultural identity, and social harmony.
